i recently purchased an 02 zr 600 efi with 459 miles on it for 2500 dollors. i has a d n d can on it d n d clutch 144 studs and a couple cosmetic mods. I figured it was an awesome deal, my only problem is it has been sitting for 2 to 3 year started maybe once a year if that. when i went to pick it up it started up 3rd pull with oldd gas in it nd ran great espesially after some fuel injector cleaner nd fresh gas. The only thing i was worried about was since it sat so long outside covered up do you think it built up moisture in the crank case? im worried cause if it did i dnt want to run it and fry the bearings. Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks alot.

I would add a bit more oil to the gas for a tank. Should be fine tho.

dont put oil in the gas on a EFI. Theres a filter cloth filter in the tank it gets clogged. The older EFI had a wire mess so you could. I would just put some oil down the plug holes and pull it over about a spoon full. Then I would get some fogging oil and spray it in the throttle bodies you can gut the air box right in the sled it snaps a part. Pull the tools out and pull the top of the lid off it snaps off. Get it running and run some fogging oil. If You wanna put something in the gas tank put in injection cleaner or run SEAFOAM.

i ran the arctic cat injector cleaner through it already. its not running badly it runs perfectly fine i was just worried about moisture building up in the crank case and buring up the rod bearings i was going to fog it and then change the plugs considering the foging oil fouled them, is there anyway to change the crankcase oil just incase??

there is none in a two-cycle, that is why it is oil injected through your throttle boddies.

if you cant add oil into the gas on efi sleds because of the cloth filter then what do you do when you rebuild the top end and need the extra lube? sorry to hijack the thread but I am getting ready to rebuild my 02 efi

You can turn up the oil pump setting for a rebuilt efi then readjust it back after break in.

As for the original topic, if the previous owner didn't store it properly, as in fog it or run it until hot every month or so, then yes there could of been moisture built up on the crank bearings. Unfortunatly, the damage is already done, the bearings will pit from oxidation and will fail prematurely. So basically you have what you have and there might not be a problem at all, but if you drop a crank bearing in the next couple of years, you know it was probably due to improper storage. PS, when you drained oil on your two stoke dirt bike, it was transmission oil, the crankcase is a seperate sealed section lubed by two stroke mix.
