Sled: 2003 ZR 900
I have an 03 ZR 900. Ride in NY, Michigan (UP), PA and OH. Temps are typically around -5 to 30. The sled has run the best on 490 main jets but only when it is real cold. When it is above 20 with these jets it looses power. Currently have 460 main jets in. Runs smoother at higher temps, but lost a lot of top end, getting beat by 800's, when typically I can walk away from them. Any suggestions on main jets?

I have mine jetted with 420's for the UP of MI., I will probably go to 410's next year if I keep it. Do you have twin pipes on it to jet it that rich? What mods are you running?What is your gearing? what Clutch weights do you have and helix? lots of questions I know. but most of us can't :snowing: can't help you without some more info.

Sled: 2003 ZR 900
The sled is completly stock. No modifications whatsoever. Thinking of doing some minor mods over the summer and would welcome any suggestions any of you may have. As of right now though, nothing.

Dealer goes over the sled for me at the start of each season, that is it. He said that I should have to 490 jets to keep from blowing it up when the temps got cold. I have trusted him for many years, but the sled just doesn't run that great with these jets, unless it is below zero. The more I read, I am not sure this is right. I think stock was 430's.

Yes stock is 430's, I ran 420's all season, even at -6F and no problems.Plugs and wash looked good. I put a Black magic single on this thing and it was slower than stock, they say the single hurt this thing more than help it. I ran against 4 F7's with the pipe and trailed all the way, threw the stock pipe back on with some clutching and kicked all of there butts, go figure. I added an after market head and V-force reeds. The best change I made was a 1.5" track, no more sitting and spinning on take-off, and believe it or not, no loss in top end.

Thank you for the information. I am not looking to get carried away with the mods, just looking to spruce her up a bit. I appreciate your input.
