My brother said that the 1997 Z 440 had something like 70 horsepower but i think that he is full of ****. So i was wondering if anybody knows the real hp. This sled is stock, and not a snow pro. He also said that it would be able to smoke my sled which is a 1999 Z 440. I just want to know if he is right or full of shnit. :scat:

This is my sled the 1999 Z 440:

yea thats about right if you come to think about it a 500 only has around 90-95 hp and its liquid cooled, you loose a shitload of power when u go fan as opposed to liquid.

yea its right around 70 hp for a zr 440 fan

The 97 z440 had roughly 50 hp, the zl440 had 68 hp, and perhaps the '97' best zr440 of all time, had 90 and wish I still had mine...

Yeah there is a BIG difference between the Z, ZL and ZR 440s in 97. Even though its a pain in the ass alot, my 97 ZR 440 is an AWESOME machine. The engine puts out some incredible power and speed for a 438cc engine without exhaust valves and many other fancy gizmos.

Handles like its on rails, pretty light, looks cool, smooth riding and has good suspension, cant ask for much more. Just the reliability issues now and then are what upset me. It may not be technically a "Sno Pro" but it sure has the attitude of one.

The 97 Z 440 also was fairly ahead of the compitition in racing. They won alot due to their superior suspension and chassies.

Ride Green - Since 1998 baby!
