I just bought this tonight for $400. It need a rebuild. I am curious if buying a complete running motor would be a better way to go. give me your advice.

I would rebuild then u know what u have. The bottom end will go forever and even if u need new pots, get rebuilt ones and the cost is not that much. U dont know what u are getting with a used engine

i like millennium for cyl's. but my bud got a engine exchange from cvtech aab, and it runs better than stock. new. the place is on web. speed shop prob has cyl's in stock, take off's from 950 kit's .if you pull the jugs and rods are tight. run it .cheak ring end gap and cyl condition and let that be your guide.

The issue it that they tore it down, Then I bought it apart. I got the crankcase still in the sled and seems to be fine. I didn't get the jugs. I have the head. and exhaust valves.

i would call speed shop inc and see if they have some 'take off's " if ya got all the nuts and such it's a easy job to put back together just be sure there are no pieces in crankcase to ruin your rebuild job and crank aint rusty from being apart i.e broken ring or piston pieces or kid's toys

The motor has been apart a while but covered. I was thinking of coating the crank and connecting rods with oil
