More on 2-stroke oils

Hi, I'm new to the site. I appreciate all the repair info
and advice available on the forum.

For those of you looking for a deal on 2-stroke oil,
Cabelas has a very good JASO FD rated oil hiding
on their shelves. JASO FD is currently the most demanding
Japanese 2-stroke oil spec out there, and Cat, Ski-Doo
and Polaris power valve oils are all JASO FC or FD rated.

Cabelas labels this as their "Signature 2-cycle semi-synthetic
marine oil". It is rated at TCW-3 and JASO FD on the label,
so the snowmobile crowd never gives it a glance.

Normally $20 per gallon, but commonly on sale for $14.
Yes, that is per GALLON. I have been running it in a 2004
Firecat F6 for 2 winters with no problems. I did a lot of research
on oil specs before I dared try this in my F6.

Just my 2 cents worth on a good deal.

If only there was one closer than 130 miles away. Thanks for the info though, if I'm ever travelling and happen to be near one I might have to stop in to pick some up.

IMHO its not wort taking a chance on "bargain oil". I have used Klotz, Amsoil, Maxima, and several other oils over the years, they all worked well. I will say this, my 04 f7 was purchased new and only ever had Arctic Cat APV in it. it now has 6500 miles on it. I clean the power valves once a year and still using the original cables.

I bought a 96 Zrt800 new and put Klotz oil in it when I picked it up from the dealer and it still runs it today 8700 miles later. I have never touched the bottom end at all. I have put in pistons and rings but the bottom end has never been touched. I started to use Klotz back in 93 and have never looked back. I run it in all my snowmobiles, Outboards, Dirt bike, quads as well!! The best part besides being great oil is it SMELLS GOOD!! If your oil stinks you can ride behind me as I am not going to smell a stinking oil!!

For 2 strokes, it's the KL-215 and KL-216 Klotz snowmobile lube. They also sell a specialized 4 stroke lube as well.

Personally, I would want to see the technical specs on that oil to see its "Pour point". Just because if it a 2 stroke oil for outboards, doesn't mean that it will be a good oil for sleds. I see Cabelas doesn't publish any true technical specs- heck, I don't even see a MSDS sheet for it. Of course, if you requested it, they would legally have to supply it to you......
