Need to remove Primary Clutch help

Hi,

I have to pull my primary clutch. I found a tool in the Royal Distributing Catalog and I want to make sure it is the correct one.

The part# is 12-164-20. Does this seem like the right puller for an 04 F7?

Thanks
Dan

yes that's the one. I bought one from Royal a couple of years ago when I put the D&D clutch kit in my 03 F7

I got the clutch puller but the clutch is not moving. Is there a way to stop the clutch rotating while putting the puller in and out? I haven't tried an impact yet, but it says to use a breaker bar in the manual. Is it safe to use an impact?

Thanks
Dan

I used an impact on mine last week, fill the bolt hole with grease, wrap the threads with some teflon tape and tighten. I wouldnt let it hammer for too long 10-15 seconds maybe?? Let it sit under pressure for an hour or so, tighten it some more.I did this 3-4 times. Being patient - thats the hard part

Tighten up the puller I use a piece of hockey stick through the clutch to hold it, give a couple cranks and tap the end of the puller with a hammer tighten and tap don't hit to hard just firm if it does not pop off leave the puller on and pour a kettle full of hot water between the sheaves guaranteed it will pop.

Thanks!!

Grease and a hockey stick worked like a charm. A turn and a half after bottoming the puller and pop. The pop was a little louder than I thought it would be.

Thanks for the help.
