One day last year a few friends went for a ride, one had a 01 (i think) XC 700 and another friend had a 04 F6. The F6 was quicker of the two but the XC 700 was a little bit faster on top end, but the race would have to be long to catch up. Going 700 to 700 it wouldn't be much of a race.

I agree I have a 04 F6 and a 99 XC700. off the line the F6 will win but on top end I think the XC has it.

My XC is clutched with reeds and pics the F6 is totaly stock.

My buddy has an 04 XCSP700, I ride with him often and it is no match, now we usually race on trails and I am sure on a lake he would probably take me on top end, but from a stop, a 30 mph roll, a 40 roll, he is nowhere in sight.

Problem with the Polaris 700 is it does not breath, his warranty is up next season, we will "clean" out the air box and drop him a few jet sizes, and he will be right next to me....... (so he thinks )

Well Its snowing liek crazy here in almond new york, Thanks for the replies. But I think Im going to buy it and maybe ride it or turn around and sell it. The KBB is over 2,600 $, So maybe Ill keep it or sell it. I want to ride it first.

I here that the F6 is not really a midpoint between a f5 and a f7, so if it wont beat that then it should woop up on a f5. Ill post results..

Here's some information from my trip last weekend regarding the XC700. Here are the sleds, and what the mods are...

2002 XC 700 SP: SLP bottles, 96 studs, Reeds, clutching unknown.
2003 Firecat F5: 360 mains, 58-51 helix, stock 1" track, air/ fuel tuning as per ArcticChat.com. (thanks guys)

Here are the results on a hardpack groomed lake trail:
1000' race: F5 wins handily... absolutely killed him on low end. It seemed like the XC couldn't find any low end grunt to get it out of the hole.
Lake race to 60mph: Ditto.
Lake race to 100mph: XC made some gains at higher speed, but still lost.

Because it was a friendly race, we switched sleds for about a half hour and did some river riding. Without getting into a Polaris bash-fest, I'll just say that I was disappointed for my friend in both the suspension/ handling and power aspects of his sled. I think he, after riding my Firecat, was disappointed as well. While I don't suggest that these results are indicative of all races between these models, these are my results, and I'm damn happy to report them!

I believe the 98 was the first year for the XC700, and probably is the fastest. Keep us posted!

I think you are right the 98 xc700 was the first year. They had a early release and they were really quick. the others are still quick.
