It is certainly desirable. My bro had one years ago and I wish I had it back. Fastest production sled on the market that year 1981.
In true mint condition it can fetch $1000 but it had better be minty fresh(no scratches) and needing NOTHING to fetch that cash, and it better be a real 81 and not an 80 that somebody thinks is an 81.
Otherwise in very good shape or needing a few touch-ups it would go for $400-$800 depending on how it looks and how it runs.
A beat up basket case that some punk beat the $hit out of, maybe $200-$350 if it runs or not
I've been watching them sell for years now and that's about what I see the value at. Others can contest that since it's just my opinion.
