Lighting coil on 1973 arcitic cat 440 panther

I'm new to the site, I have an arctic 440 pather, 1973. Had it running yesterday and the spring inside the flywheel came off and got into the stator and messed up the lighting coil. There is a little black wire on the lighting coil that looked like it was connected to the coil itself. Can this just be soddered back together? None of the lights are working at this time. Any pictures or info that anyone has would be greatly appreciated.
