1977 jag kill switch?

I just received in the mail a replacement kill switch for my 1977 jag 3000.
The strange thing is, my old switch just had the three position switch on it. The new one has a three position switch and what appears to be some sort of tether switch. Is this the wrong switch? How does the tether part mount? I guess I could cut the tether part off and solder the wires. The place I ordered it from said it was for my sled. I dont know! Any thoughts??
