I need some info on setting the stator on a 500 f/c spirit engine. Bought the engine with no stator and I have one to put in, just need to know how to set it. Engine is out of a 1986 couger.

Thanks in advance!

im not really sure. i had my motor striped down over the summer but for me it was easy to put the stator back at it's old marks.
i know i read on here that these motors you can use a timing light just like a car, but not sure if that will help your problem.

is it a used stator or a new one?
if used, it should have old marks from the engine that it was removed from, but i donno if they will be close enough to work in your motor.
now, seeing these motors were made on an assembly line they should all be the same! so i would think just setting it at the old marks on the stator would be fine.

anyone else have any suggestions?
