so the inside boot on my left rear axle was a casualty after this weekend's ride.... it doesn't look that difficult to pull the axle -- any tricks I should be aware of before attempting this?

thanks

I can get the axle in about 15 min. For inner boots i just take the upper and lower a-arm bolts out of the hub and pull the whole axle and hub and toss it on the workbench. There is a little "hidden" clip on inside of the cup to keep the axle from falling apart. brake clean it all up, re-pack the bearings and clamp the boot. 1 to 1.5 hour job if its your first time.

Check this out from the pinned section http://www.arcticchat.com/forums/ind...howtopic=94183 I just did the inner one on the right and the only problem i had was taking off the nut at the end of the axle. I do believe it is 1 3/16 or 30mm. Had to beat it off with a chisel and hammer since nobody i knew had either of those sizes.

thanks guys! I'm not so nervous now....

kewlboxer2 -- checked out your mods -- all nonsense aside, what kind of seat-of-the-pants increase did you notice w/the vdi and injector? did you do them both at the same time, or vdi then injector? how about mph top end increase?

I did the VDI first. Nice increase. I think the dyno sheets say 3-5hp. But with the vdi and the stock injector it was running out of fuel and i could only hit 55mph. Some Zuki's had same problem. So I got the m109r injector. Took a little bit to get the starting figured out, but Lyle, owner and tech support, was hands down the best ever. You tell him what you have and he will make a map for you, or help you along the way. I visit nyroc alot considering my quad is basicly a zuki and was using maps from there, but they suck on a AC. I havent had time to get the AC m109r map on my vdi yet, but i cant wait to try it.

The nut is 30mm. When you put it back on you need to torque the out of it. The torque spec out of the repair manual says 200ft/lbs max. and don't forget the little pin.

if you are doing the inner there is no need to take off the castle nut to pull the axle out of the hub. just one extra step that isnt needed xD
