well, I am on a mission to find a way to make a cat launch like a can-am and then some, also it has to be able to stay ahead in the pit. I just got back from a race where a bone stock 800r gade put a hurting on a 1100 bbk TCAT mud pro. I think the helix has a big factor in our problem. from what i have found the helix is upshifting to slow and not back shifting. changing to a heavy roller helps with the upshift alot but once in the heavy mud the clutch doesn't back shift it just bogs. so by lowering the helix angle will slow the up shift and help the back shift. by going to an extremely heavy roller with this you could accomplish good upshift with alot better back shifting. please someone that knows more about this tell me if this sounds right. suposedly they are using a new helix in the tcat mud pro with 33 gram rollers. would this be what I am looking for?

Thanks,
Nick

In theory heavier roller will get you to top speed faster but it will take longer for the heavier mass to go back down to the lower range due to the centrifugal force being applied. If I were you I would lighten the weights up to give you a better holeshot and send your primary to AIRDAM/// and have him machine it. You will keep your top end but have a much lower gear for your launch. I have read nothing but good on this mod and i will be sending my clutch to him ASAP. By the way if you get any water in your clutch housing it shouldn't slip near as bad.

NOOOOO!~!!!@!@!@#

nick, do me a flavor pal. keep your bike stock. dont screw with all that stuff just yet. when you get your clutches back then you take a gander at it. i'm telling you, after the machine work, it makes your bike leave the line like a brute force. dont doubt me just watch it. give it till next tuesday. i think your clutches are coming in today, i'll get them back out this afternoon so you should have them monday'ish. tuesday you can give us all a report. if you have any crazy wet spring setups or super duper light rollers get rid of them. go back all stock, and just ride it once and see what it does. the machine work will make the bike leave like you want i promise.

yes, I have found that that is possibly a problem, the wet clutch springs help with the high stall but with the high hp motors and the way these clutches are designed they do not hold up to the high horse power. the problem being with e 54# wet clutch spring the force or grip generated is lower than with a stock wet clutch spring so there is a better chance of power being lost in slippage. from my sources and talking with a few different people this seems to be an issue. so by doing the primary cut, with stock clutching you can obtain a better setup, then there is a problem with backshifting that could be helped by the suposedly new helix that will come in the 2010 tcat mudpros. it is a 35 degree angle helix. which will slow the upshift down a touch but improve the backshifting tremendously. the up shifting can be cured by adding a heavier roller. I wish I knew of a place I could have a custom helix made. I think I have an idea of what setup I am tryin first but I will have to wait and see when the time comes. first trial will be

4-28g rollers
4-23g rollers (stock)
red epi secondary clocked
primary cut
stock wet clutch springs

If you find out anything more on the Helix let me know as well, I would like mine to back shift alittle faster as well but other then that i am really likeing mine now that the primary has been cut.

need some guys from SpeedWerx to give a good wright up of how the helix works and how the ones they sell would improve on the clutching.
