Exclamation 2009 550h1 - no spark?

K all, I'm scratching my head on this one

I've been posting up what I thought was a fuel issue in another post recently as to why the 550 just up and died on me

I initially checked to see if I had spark - I did. And I did manage to get it to run with CrazyYooper's help.

We got it to run ...... But it quickly died again.

So that lead me to the fuel system, as eventually we could get it to run with enough cranking, but it would sputter out.

I drained the gas, refilled with new loaded w/seafoam, replaced the fuel filter - cleaned the throttle body assy and injector - check fuel pressure (42PSI) - checked for any injector leak thru (none) and it still won't start.

Check codes - had SC 13-14-32-40 but that was due to most of the connectors being unplugged when I pressured up the injector to check for any possible fuel leaking thru.

Cleared all the codes - tried restarting - no luck but no codes either.

So I had a hunch and checked for spark - NONE

I then checked all fuses - GOOD

I then confirmed I had 12v at the coil w/key on - YEP

Did an OHM test on the coil - OL ?? Anybody know what the resistance is supposed to be?

I'm leaning towards a coil issue, cause I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to have about 5ohms of resistance... but I also don't want to throw $150 bucks at 'er and cross my fingers......

Anything else to check - Tilt sensor? - Voltage Regulator? - ign switch?

Any help is appreciated. ( and yes i'm kinda fish'n here cause I'm stumped)

Thanks!

I haven't got into mine yet but it's starting to idle lower and died today. I thought it would be the fuel pump and I have adjusted the TPS awhile ago so it's time to start checking everything over...

Awesome! Thanks! for the link too.

Kinda what I figured on the coil. ( I was close at guessing it was supposed to be 5ohms) Ordered a new one on-line for about 50 bucks new.

Did you get it figured? I cleaned my spark plug re-gapped it between .7-.8mm (the sticker on the front bracket says .5-.6mm but the manuals all say 7-8) Also cleaned the tip up and it's been good so far.

Did you try a new plug? I'm assuming you did. When I first got my 550 it ran for a little while and died. No spark, new plug runs great and has for 1500mi. I keep a spare in the glove box now.

If was sensor or something else I doubt your would get voltage at the coil. Hope you get it fixed. Say Hi to the Yoopers for me!

LOL I will say hi.

Coil hasn't arrived yet, and yes I did put a new plug in 'er....no luck.

I'll post an update as soon as the coil shows up.
