2008 Arctic cat 500 malfounction

Sometime, my engine dont run idle but is ok when I give more trottle. Sometime it goes whel. And sometime it goes wrong again with bad idle and misfiring. Plug is new, battery is new. I put four battery in it. If I dont use it for a while like one month, tha battery goes very low or dead. Is it possible that the voltage regulator goes wrong for a while and then be ok for sometime?

Sounds more like bad gas from sitting has gunked your carb up.

It only goes bad from time to time and except these period, run well. I went to my machanic and he cleaned the carb but told me he was pretty sure it was the voltage regulator. But as it was running well, the voltage was ok. So the next ti e it we run bad , I will check the voltage.

Have you had your front diff repaired/replaced under the cat safety recall?

Yesterday I took a ride and my engine was starting well, running well idle and until it reach the mid range rpm, but as I try to accelerate past the mid range, it begin to miss. I check the regulator and it seems tombe ok. The carb was cleaned and the gas is ok. With the engine runnig idle and warm, the voltage is around 14.4 v. As I pass the midd range rpm, the voltage goes to 14.1 and stay there even if the engine is missing. Any idea?

I think you need to start looking for a bare wire somewhere in your harness. Around the steering column and right where it comes out of the fuse box. If it was carb it would be all the time.

I concur with doorfx you probably have a electrical issue somewhere. It does explain all your issues. They can be a real problem to find. Good Luck!
