2007 Arctic Cat 400 help!! Can't figure it out!

2007 Arctic Cat was running great and then just stopped and won't start!! Here's where I'm at...

So.....I have completely rebuilt the carb and gas is pouring in to it, checked every air line for leaks from the intake-filter-exhaust, charged the battery completely and disconnected anything that isn't pertinent to starting, the spark arrester is lit up like a Christmas tree, re-adjusted all valves to full spec and checked the compression and it is reading 180psi which is factory max and it still won't start.

I have checked all the terminals, know the solenoid is good, checked every visual thing I see and nothing!

The only thing I can't test is the CDI which is the only thing at this point I suspect but wouldn't go paying $300 for one without getting it tested first.

Any answers? Any ideas? Help!! I'm at the end of my knowledge!

3 basic things you need to run..

fuel, spark, compression

fuel: remove spark plug and drop in 1/2 a teaspoon, try starting if it kicks/runs and dies you have a fuel issue, good supply of fuel to the carb does not mean its making it to the cylinder, one plugged jet or stuck float is all it takes


spark: remove spark plug install in lead, ground plug against engine, look for spark while cranking, if it sparks dont rule it out yet, especially if the plug was fuel soaked, if fuel soaked just replace plug, they may not fire when under compression, yet work when not installed in the motor if no spark then test components (double check kill switch/cdi/ etc)


compression : is good you have 180, so that means you have the valves set correct, all is good

all the above does it help you narrow down where to look

if you have say spark and fuel and still no start it could be a plugged exhaust/ plugged air intake, or another possibility is the engine has jumped its timing (or magnets fell off the flywheel)

I'm trying to figure out why your checking the spark arrestor? "The spark arrester is lit up like a Christmas tree."
