1999 Arctic Cat ATV 500cc Suspension Problem

I just bought a 1999 Arctic Cat 500cc ATV and the first time I took it out the tire nearly fell off. I have no idea whats wrong with it, or how to fix it. Nothing was wrong until this happened, and I wasn't riding it super hard. Does anyone have any ideas?

Heres a couple bad quality pictures taken with my phone

Thats what the good tire looks like

Thats the broken one, if I get it all connected it just comes apart again. As far as I can see I am just missing a little rubber band to hold it together?

That pin goes up in to the hub. You need to pull the hub completely off, and take the bolt out. Should be a 13mm. I think the bolt is a 10mm 1.25pitch. Double check dont quote me. I had to replace one before. Looks like that bolt is just not tightening the hub down tight. That should resolve your issue.

From what I see comparing the two sides of the ATV, I am also missing a band that goes around it to hold it in, does anyone know what that would be?

What you're saying is to replace the bolt thats holding it in?

Also what is that whole part called? I haven't owned or had any experience on ATVs before this one, so I don't know what I'm doing at all

I am thinking the bolt is stripped in the hub. Its not tightening down or the pin on the lower balljoint is screwed. So There is a couple things you can do, front left hub, front left lower a-arm or new ball joints. I am not sure, but being they sell them separate i would try to press in some new ballpoints on the bottom.

On the pin of that ball joint there is a little cut out. That cut out has to be put toward the bolt hole. you then put the pin up into the hub then run the bolt though. So that bolt locks that pin in to the hub. I will find a service man for you and post a link.

I done some more looking i would replace part numbers 11 and 12. They just press out once you remove the retainer clip. I suspect you will need a set of snap ring players. Get a new set of bolts as well, its 77cents for 4 bolts. 10mm 1.25pitch 30mm long. Might be able to get them at your hardware store, just finding metric around here is a pain in the ass.

I've replaced mine before. On the bottom of the ball joint there is a clip. Remove the clip using a hammer you can pound out the broke ball joint. If you can't pound it out you will have to remove the a arm from the frame. Once you get it out pound the new one in and reinstall the clip.
