My 96 340 Bearcat runs great as long as you start it and don't let it idle down. As soon as it idles down after being warmed up it will stop and sometimes start back to a slow rpm while holding the throttle open. Changed plugs and coil with no help to sled. After it stops,If you let the machine cool down for 10 min or so, it will run again and be fine for awile, maybe 10 mins or maybe 1 hour. The lights work good at all times. Do you all think it could be the stator or cdi box? Tried to test the stator, but not sure what color wires to test. Stator has coming from engine a 3 prong with a red/white-black/white-& red/black, A single black wire and a 4 prong plug with 2 yellows-1 brown & 1 black. Tested 3 wire plug r/w to b/w had 152 ohms,r/w to r/b had 16.8 ohms, b/w to r/black had 168 ohms. Does this mean anything? Any ideas on what may be wrong? Seems to be fuel going threw the lines from pump.

If the sled runs good as long as you're in the throttle a little and the lights are good ( not going from real dim to real bright as you throttle ) , i wouldn't suspect the stator as being bad .
Fouled plugs , dirty carb , partially plugged exhaust /can ? I would sart there
The cdi box is a possibility i would think , check for a bad/intermittant 12v connector or ignition coil .
while it's running poor , do a wiggle test on all the plug wires , connectors and you can even tap the coil lightly with a wrench and see if it gets better or worse .

Took the sled out today. We still have about 12" of new snow. It ran fine for the entire 60 min. that we were out. Just never let it idle. Soon as we came back to the garage and turned it off, same thing, wouldn't start untill it cooled for 10 mins. Before riding I put die-electric grease on all ignition wires,put in new plugs,new coil & checked all ign wires. Guess I'll tear into the carb,any other suggestions?
