Prowler Battery

Over the weekend I endured the ridiculous process of replacing my prowler battery. I'm not sure what was worse, dealing with battery location and attaching cables to the terminals, or the manual process of preparing the battery (adding acid, charging etc.). I see from previous posts that I'm not alone in wondering what AC was thinking when they designed the battery location. Can anyone recommend a maintenance free battery that fits? I see that a few have actually relocated the battery to accommodate a full size version. Will any 12 volt battery work (I assume deep cycle is better for winch use)? Any help would be appreciated.

It is very easy to replace the battery. It comes out the back where the driver's side inner fender is.

Yea...I found out the hard way. Remove the screws on the underside of mudflap in front of the rear tire, take the screw out of the battery box lid, slide the battery out..oh..remove the battery cables first. I just got a battery from Wal-Mart...seems to be working fine.

Ditto on what Prowler Guy said, it takes me about 5 minutes to get mine out. Or should I say, used to. On my new XTZ Desert Pre-Runner build, we've installed a dual battery setup up front to handle the additional needs of the lighting, radios and stereo.
