Well I just got my first 100 miles on the Prowler and did the oil change.
The owners manual says its supposed to take 2.6 quarts. I used a filter we had from our 500 so its a bit shorter, but when I put 2 quarts in it and checked it it was already over full. I started it and let it run for 2 or 3 minutes, shut it off waited a minute, and checked the oil (without screwing in the dipstick) and it read about 2/3 the way up the hatch marks.
What are you other guys getting in your oil capacities with the regular filter? I know that the 3/4" of filter difference won't make up the 1/2 quart.

Ive done 3 oil changes on my 07'. I put in 2.5 quarts to get the dipstick to read full without the dipstick screwed in. I have used the filter for the prowler and was on level ground.

Thats what I was expecting to need too. The engine was warm and I let it drain for almost an hour, (dinner was ready) so I know it should have had a good drain.
Hopefully someone else has had this happen to shed some light on it.

I think i read some where and my dealer told me to make sure to use the right filter on the prowler.....might check into that...
I have a question what oil did you all use when you changed it....the book say 5w30
but arctic cat does not make any 5w30 so i used 0w 40 synthetic and it sounds like my valves or lifters are a little loud have any of you had this problem???????????

I just changed the oil in my prowler today. used one of those Arctic Cat kits that comes with a gallon of oil and the filter. my dealer gave me a synthetic kit, straight 40W. it also would only hold 2.5 quarts, as stated above i guess if the oil cooler was empty then it probably would hold the complete gallon. as far as the lifters go, going riding this weekend and i shall let you know.
