2013 xf 1100 lxr

Ok....so I happened to buy a 13 XF 1100 LXR....due to snow conditions...I probably onlly put 400 miles on it the last few years. This year I decided to put on the hygear suspension and front shocks.

Since my shocks are coil....Im having a hard time knowing where to set them. The biggest issue I have is that the steering feels really heavy.
Do I turn up the front skid shock to alleviate this?....I have it set to about half inch

Any help would be appreciated...

Theres supposed to be JUST enough pressure on that front skid shock to keep the spring from rattling. Thats it at least on my 129 ZR. Yours is a different skid than mine and I think the guys at Hygear would have some settings they could suggest if you have the Hygear skid conversion

Hygear just gave me basics on how to set ride height....I think which front ski shocks at 2.5 inches, ill try and loosen off the limiter strap on hole to help get more pressure off my skiis.....any other real life setups appreciated

I have a 2012 XF1100. I have had to do a lot of suspension work on it as the ride of the 141" suspension is not the best. I have added the Hygear linkage kit, and Hygear springs, including their adjustable dual rate spring on the front shock in the rear. The ride is better. I have tried tightening that front spring to lighten the steering, but since that suspension is not coupled, the front end would spend too much time in the air when accelerating. I am running my limiter strap out as far as it will go without making the shock the limiter. The strap should not be loose when the sled is on a stand or you will risk damaging the shock. With all that I have done, I think what has helped my steering the most was the least expensive upgrade - Shimming the skis to put more pressure on the rear half of the ski. This helped a lot! There is a lot of info on this on the internet, here is one explanation. Sounds Too Simple To Work? - Bergstrom Skegs, Inc.
