1100 Turbo Oil Change - Piece of Cake!

I've read some horror stories about the complexity and mess involved with changing oil in the 1100 turbo but I'm here to say it was a breeze. Maybe it's tough if you've never changed oil in a sled (perhaps coming from a 2 stroke) but compared to my Apex it's about a horse apiece, I'd say. It seems it's really easy to just remove the muffler to open up that whole area and then drain the oil through the belly pan hole for the exhaust. Cut out a old bottle of iso-heet and it fit perfectly. The drain plug is easy to get to in the engine so that was easy and the filter came right off. I pulled the intercooler to make it easier to see but that only took a few minutes. Next time I'll fab up a small little catch pan for under the filter but a big wad of paper towels kept the mess under control. I just drained some oil slowly from the filter and when it looked like the towel was soaked, tightened the filter, swapped out the towel and repeated. I took the time while I had the sled half apart to check all my hose clamps and look things over and it was a breeze.

Gotta say, though, the boys over in Thief River must be wimpy SOBs because a preschooler could tighten hose clamps tighter. I ended up tightening all of mine a bit more 'cause most felt much looser than I was comfortable with. Anyway, first oil change out of the way and no issues with the sled. Still love it!
