The only thing free you should get from a dealer is PR stuff. Like BZ indicated a key chain, t-shirt (from dealer), or a magnet for your fridge.

I admit when you buy from one dealer for a number of years and never get a free item of value, you do feel your loyalty slipping from that dealer. However if you get the item that YOU wanted at a great price and they are laways comforting when you walk in the door I think that is a better deal than free merch.

Definitely... We make approx 1/8 to 1/6 of what we MADE back in the 90's and early to middle portion of 2000's (up til around 2006/7) per unit sold..

That price list I posted above CLEARLY shows MSRP vs DLR cost (price that we sold them for back then), and then, to far right is amount saved by the consumer... Like I said, between 1/8 - 1/6 of profit margin of dealer cost vs MSRP of those times.... A lot of it began getting STUPIDLY CRAZY, right around the time that former CEO Claude Jordan began looking out for shareholders, instead of the company's bread and butter (loyal customers)..

I bought my 5 yo son a zr120 on Monday. They threw in TWO Country Cat shirts. One for my boy and one for the wife. Couldn't ask for much more than that!

Oh and the salesman said they make about 84$ on the 120's. He said the 120's are to get a customer into snowmobiles and they hope into their brand so it's worth it.

we loose money every time we sell a 120 at MSRP. It is stupid how those things are.

Here in Ontario where I bought my t-cat they reduced $2500 off the price which no other dealer would do. They threw in the low windshield and 30% off all other parts and labour
I saved huge I was very impressed.
If you're anywhere in Ontario buy from McCauley Equipment

I just bought a 2016 Bearcat 2000 XT last month. I got a free hat, a good discount on cover, mirrors and sway bar. They also installed the sway bar and mirrors. All good but sitting down for an hour with the owner and having coffee with him meant a lot as to who I'm dealing with.

why should a dealer throw anything in for free, when you buy groceries do you buy cheese and then ask for the crackers for free?

I get that it's a nice gesture, however profit is what keeps the door open, and inventory cost money. Guys complain local dealers go out of business, well how's a dealer going to stay around when they make next to nothing on a sled, then shuck out $300 in accessories for free?

I actually had a customer yell to me once "you get all of your polaris razors for free, can't you just knock $5,000 off" and yes he was being serious.

My response "sir there is no magic polaris razor truck that just shows up with free fun mobiles"

If there was more profit in the sled then sure dealers have some room to help you out, I like buying local because I know if I need something I will be taken care of and later down the road that dealer might be more apt to take care of me.

Profit isn't a dirty word, and nothing is free
