Hi,
I finally have an ATV that cost real money, so of course all of a sudden I now care about its limits.
The manual tells me to never get it in water above the footrests. It stresses that it may harm the v-belt and/or motor, etc.
So, my question is: to what extent should I worry about this? I have no intention of burning through or getting stuck in deep water holes. But the possibility that I may end up in a water obstacle above my footrests for a few seconds certainly exists. What do I need to be conscious of before riding into something like this?
As a stock bike, it looks like there are two obvious places/openings I can see where water could flow into something. I've no idea right offhand what these two openings are... one on the front right above the wheel and one behind the motor. Can i do anything to mitigate any risk here? If so, what kind of solutions or products would I be after?
What's the reality of the risk to the motor or v-belt and under what circumstances? Is there anything I can do to lower risk to these components if faced with a situation where I have to cross water deeper than my footrests?
Silly question, perhaps, but what about washing it, say with a pressure washer? Are there things I should avoid?
Thanks a bunch for any advice. If you have an idea where I might look online for aftermarket parts for this bike, I'd love to get some tips.
Cheers!
