Looks a little rough but the tires look decent and those engines are bullet proof. I have a 2005 and it's been a great bike.

PO's kid must have liked the mud. It's everywhere. Back tires are worn more than fronts. Got 4 steel rims too for a FIS model. Now I have 2 sets of extra steel rims. If I keep it, new tires are going on it. I've had my 03 400 auto FIS since new. I always wanted to find another and maybe sell the 300.

You have the straight rear axle, I guess? If it's narrow like my 2001 500, you can put some wheel spacers to make it handle better, in fact, I have 90 mm in the back, 45 mm front. Straight rear axle is way better towing a heavy trailer. not so good in the rocks. Yes, I love my 400 FIS, zippy little bike, at least compared to the diesel.

We'll see. I think I have to soak the cooler before I wash it.

Looks like a job for Dawn dishwashing liquid. The other thing that mite work, a car sprayer that works off a garden hose, one that you put car wash solution in. They are great to have. That is what I call a :Singed Cat, came out of a scrape, but has at least 8 lives left.

mud caked radiator, needs top end work huuuuummmmmm!

I hope you didn't pay much. Got me thinking about a project for this spring. What are your plans for the engine? Is a big bore kit available? High compression piston? I don't remember reading much about the 400 getting engine mods.

No engine mods for me. Cam, cylinder, head and piston look real good. Absolutely no gouges. Valves were caked in black goo. Upside down overnight with brake clean did wonders in cleaning them up. I'm lucky there. Frame looks a little tweaked. Right front wheel angles in more at bottom than left front. Can't tell stress marks as every welded area is peeling. Can you guys see it in picture?

Front driveshaft does not line up with diff. Not sure if that is correct. I'd have to take my other 400 belly panel off to see.
