Defective flywheel

I have a Arctic Cat 2004 4x4 atv that only has 1300 miles on it and ALL of the magnets came off of the flywheel.I bought this machine new and it has been taken extremely good care of. How many of you have had the same problem? I talked to a lady at Arctic cat and she pretty much told me I was on my own. I have owned 4 different brands of ATV's and had motorcycles my whole life and I have never had a flywheel go bad, I might throw a rod or tear something up but the magnets fall off of a flywheel? I kind of think that should have been a recall issue, as I have talked to 4 different repair sites and am being told the 03' and 04' and 05' and 06' Arctic cats with the Eiger engine had this problem. Anyone else out there with the same problem.

The problem you have is not uncommon for that model motor. overtime the aditives in the oil attack the epoxy that holds the magnets on.

The bad news is nobody is going to warrenty anything that old.

The good news is the replacement for it has had the problem corrected. The magnets are sealed into the flywheel, there not even visable anymore.

Replace it and you will never have that problem again.

I bought an 011 Honda and so did my friend, and I am purchasing a side by side this summer, so Arctic cat lost out on 20,000 plus on sales by not offering to at least get me a reduced or at cost flywheel. They knew about the problem in time to have recalled mine while it was under warranty- again, it has only 1300 miles. I will also help spread the word to everyone who will listen. Buy another brand, the glue that Arctic Cat uses to keep their machines running, will let go and then "you are on your own"

Have fun with out true 4x4 no ground clearance also no wheel travel. I fixed a Honda foreman for a customer while it was a decent machine i would never own one.

ATV: None
You may not have read the other thread you posted where I stated that Suzuki actually made that motor, so your angst should be directed to them, as they didn't have any recalls that i'm aware of. that said, I can understand some of your frustration regarding this issue. However, to get ticked because an 8 year old machine had a minor failure (and yes, this is minor) is a bit unrealistic in my opinion.

It's not unrealistic it ridiculous. Not one company on earth is going to help you 8 years later, At least 5 years past warranty. If you got the money to buy $20k in new stuff you can afford a repair on your Suzuki engine.

I know i'm new here, but i gotta agree with the vets on this one. Yeah, the flywheel deal sucks. I bought mine broke lookin for a cheap fix, costs me about 650 to fix (cat flywheel, rm stator stator) but gotta pay to play! Look at it this way, thats maybe 2 top end rebuilds on a polaris 2 stroke! And them things are due faster than 4 yrs. Just one repair example.
