I'm about to pick up a beagle pup. Family pet and to use for hunting in the fall. I have seen a few on here that take the dogs with them on the atv. Any tips for a carrier, how to make the dog comfortable, safe etc.?

There is no reason an 700 pound machine shouldn't catwalk and drive through 6 feet of water.

what about a regular dog kennel strapped on the rear rack. Then the dog is out of the elements and able to get warm and dry..
Just a thought.

My silly hound will run 20 miles with no problem. He actualy runs double that since he hasn't learned to run in a strait line yet.

Veri Kennel or a similar type of the heavy plastic carriers would work well. They are durable and well ventilated. I keep one in the back of the pickup for my dog. Just bungee it in there. I also put down some rubber floor matting in the bottom of the crate. Give some cushion and you can just hose it off when it gets dirty.

my brother has a little dog and she will ride all day long in the "rider rest seat" he made a short lead and hooks her in some how.

cant even start the machine and she is ready to ride.

His buddies lab rides on the rear rack. the guy made a non slip surface and the dog will stay put as long as he keeps the speed down

The dog is a 1 1/2 old English Springer Spaniel and weights 50 lb.
The first pic is the way that the new 700 is being set up. The next two are the 500 with cooler gas can and the dog house. The 700 will be the same when finished
The magic word is Saddle up and he is fast about it. If I walk out into the garage and say saddle up he will run over to where the bike is and jump in to his box. He knows that if he is not up in time it can be a long run till the next chance to saddle up. Some time I let or make him run but then I have to hold it down to 20 mph or he can't keep up. Even when I'm on the bike he can jump up and gets around me and ready to ride ride ride. One good game to play with them is to get out in front on the trail and then pull off and hide on them with the engine off. After they pass pull out and let them see you. They are afraid of you running off an leaving them. With every dog I had this made a great tracking dog out of them. They will learn to track the bike and know when you leave the trail. The first time I took him out riding I didn't have the box and he only had the carpet and he had a hard time hanging on, would slide all over now with the box he don't care how fast I go will just stay there in his box.

I just strap my dog to the front rack with one of those bungie cargo net things. As long as nobody sees us we do just fine.

I'm joking of course! Last thing I need is a bunch of naked PETA protestors camped on my front lawn. (On the other hand, if they were cute protestors...)

My dog rides in a box I custom built for my ATV. Took awhile for her to get used to it, but now she seems to enjoy it.
