I was planning on changing the oil on my 05 250. Was gonna use the artic cat 0w40 syn. kit, But was told by the delaer not to use the syn. oil in the machine, that it would make the clutch slip????? Anyone ever hear of this?

ATV: 2002 Arctic Cat 500i, Manual 4X4
Very good example of why you should never let your dealer do routine maintenance on your machine. Automotive syn oils have friction modifiers which some say will cause the clutch to slip. Arctic Cat syn oils and other syn oils sold for ATV's do not have the friction modifiers and are wet clutch compatible. Go with the syn oil and buy the service manual and then do the work on your bike yourself whenever possible.

Arctic Cat syn is specifically designed to avoid this problem. Just don't try it with automotive synthetic

Make sure you clarify your question with the dealer and ask it again- maybe from the service people. If he/they repeat the same thing, RUN AWAY!
