Let me start by saying I have only posted on this site one or two times but I am not brand loyal by any means. I have had 4 cats in the last 2 years 2 bad 2 good. 02 z570 and z440 spares and 03 f7 s/p and 05 f7 s/p
From everything I read and have exsperienced cats big motors are tough and fast , they get bad gas millage but I am not in this sport to worry about that. I also own Polaris sleds currently and this year was my first brand new sled I ever bought. I ruled out doo fast for chassis durability and crank bearings. I was set on Polaris rush 800 and cat if they came out with the 800 in the snow pro chassis. I have riden the twin spar and they ride good in the small stuff but to pound that thing threw the moguls for 60+ miles is very tiring due to the weight. I have hated Polaris big CC sleds since the fusion due to fuel mapping issues causing engine reliability to suffer big time. Well I ended up with a rush 800 and it actually runs very very good, for now we will see how this newest Polaris 800 hold up ,but right now I just broke 1000 miles last night and it runs great. Does it have cats brute strength and power of the new 800 HO, No but the chassis of this rush is absolutely amazing and that's y I bought a Polaris over a cat.
So I guess to answer some of your questions about y ppl may choose a Polaris or any brand for that matter over a cat, could be chassis or suspension or to have a four stroke.
I didn't come here to stir the pot and like I said I am 100 percent not brand loyal and own my own performance shop so I do all my own wrenching. If I could build a sled it would be rush chassis and suspension with a cat 800 ho in it.
well happy sledding guys hope our trails will be able to hold off this warm spell coming this weekend.
