09 Crossfire - cracked gas tank

Found some significant cracks on the neck of my 2009 Crossfire. Dealer is checking with Arctic Cat but hasn't heard of any problems with this model. Has anyone had a similar experience? I know some of the older models are covered, have my wifes 2006 Saber Cat in for a new tank right now.

Yes, my 2009 Crossfire R has cracks developing around the filler neck and I am totally pissed. I am very careful about not cranking the cap too tight. My 2006 Sabercat had the recall done. I called the dealer and he said there is no recall on the Crossfire tanks. This is total BS! I am gonna call Cat myself and tell them what is going on. You should do the same.

Good news

Dealer told me that Arctic Cat will send a new tank, I just have to pay the labor. Tank is on back-order till mid Dec. I'm good with that.

That's great news! How did you go about this? Did you keep harassing the dealer or did you call Cat? Please tell me.

Actually I sent them a picture of the crack. They contacted AC and called me back two days later. Very happy with the dealer.

I'm assuming you sent the picture to your dealer and the dealer sent it to AC. I hope anybody else that has had this issue chimes in and tells their story. This cracked filler neck issue has gone on forever and it's unacceptable.

I was suprised that there wasn't a recall. The crack looked just like the one on my 2006 Saber Cat, and that one was replaced, labor included.

Cracked filler necks

Thx for pics. Did you have extended warranty on your sleds or did the dealers/arctic cat just eat the cost of the part for you? I've got an '11 CF8 and only had one year of warranty at purchase, expires in January. Would hope this doesn't happen to me.

Mine was not under warranty, but Arctic Cat still covered it. Sonds like AC acknowledges the problem, just hasn't issued a recall. Keep an eye on the neck where it connects to the tank, that's where the cracks start. Also probably shouldn't torque the cap too hard.Wouldn't suprise me if that didn't contribute to the problem......
