Arctic Cat name will be snow only, Textron Off Road to release Wildcat XX in spring 2018

Textron Off Road to release Wildcat XX in spring 2018

Textron Off Road announced on Wednesday that it will be releasing its first side-by-side as the result of the Arctic Cat merger in the spring of 2018. The Wildcat XX will feature a 125-hp Triple 998 engine, 17.5 inches of front and rear suspension travel, King Shocks, KMC 15-inch wheels, 30-inch tires, full doors and a race-inspired ROPS.

It was also formally announced that Textron Off Road will be the name of all dirt product going forward, while Arctic Cat’s sub-brands Wildcat, Prowler and Alterra will remain under the Textron Off Road Brand. Arctic Cat will be the snow brand only, going forward.
Arctic Cat originally announced that the Wildcat XX would be made available in the fall of this year, however, Textron Off Road wants more time to perfect the model, reported John Collins, vice president — Consumer, of Textron Specialized Vehicles. Textron Off Road is aiming for a spring 2018 debut, though the release could come earlier, if the model is ready before then.

Textron Off Road will also be revealing a yet-to-be-named 100-plus horsepower side-by-side with class-leading suspension and an extended cab this fall. That vehicle was in development by Textron before the Arctic Cat acquisition.
These announcements were made Wednesday at an event in the Dallas, Texas, area. There, Textron Specialized Vehicles staff introduced media and about 50 dealers in attendance to the new Textron Off Road and Arctic Cat. The event was also simulcast to Textron Specialized Vehicles and Arctic Cat dealers across North America, as well as Textron Specialized Vehicles staff in Georgia and Minnesota. Textron Specialized Vehicles acquired Arctic Cat in March.

Hopefully they don't kill off the sleds.

Textron has said several times that they are looking to keep, and grow the sleds, they don't want to be second to anyone

I think call them "Textron" (instead of Arctic Cat) is a poor marketing decision, but what do I know? Even Arctic Cat isn't the best name, when you are trying to sell to people in warm states. But Textron is worse, IMO.

Oh I know. Just hoping their intention is what they say.

My understanding is that under the umbrella of Textron Offroad will be

golf carts
  • EZ Go
side by sides
  • Stampede
  • Ambush
  • Recoil
  • Prowler
  • Wildcat
ATV
  • Onslaught
  • Alterra
Snow
  • Arctic Cat
They are asking dealers that carry one of the brands, to consider taking on some or all of the others depending on their market.

ATV: 2008700SD and 2002 400 FIS
In cold climate states, at least in Maine, Arctic Cat name means a lot for resale. I'm selling my 2001 AC 500 with 8,000 miles for $2,500 to a guy that sold his Honda 500 just to buy it! Here Arctic Cat has a great name, maybe because of the sleds, but I think because so many old AC ATV's are still running. My 2 cents, keep the name, work on improving quality, and treat your dealers and customers with respect. Textron might be a great brand, but Arctic Cat has been around for a long time. Why does Fiat/Chrysler keep the Jeep brand? Because it's so well recognized, not that they always built the highest quality. Yes, I also have a Jeep!
