Awesome!

I haven't had a problem in the 15 miles I've put on my TZ1 (ugh) but anytime you're riding something that could catch on fire with out warning....well this makes me feel better.

Well guys, the recall isn't worth the paper it's written on or I have a dealer misinterpreting the bulletin.

What I was told is I would have to bring my machine in for inspection. IF the tank was cracked they would order a new tank and install the update kit (0637-496) to prevent cracking in the future, IF it wasn't cracked then they wouldn't do anything until a defect appeared.

Seriously, they have a kit to prevent the problem but they wont install it until your tank has failed?

It's weird, I read the bulletin as you order and install the kit BUT make sure the tank isn't cracked and if it is then you order a new tank. I've attached the bulletin, read it for your self. If my dealer is right then I'm really disappointed in AC...

I read it as update the tank if no cracks, replace tank if cracks are found. Your dealers full of it. It says do not operate till the tank has been repaired/updated

replace the tank if its cracked, apply update if it isn't cracked.

No parts are available yet, either kits, or new tanks.

I asked C-Note and he thought that maybe the update could only be installed on a new tank they just came out with. What I don't get is why a newly designed tank would even need an update kit?

The more I think about it the more it just doesn't make sense to me.

I just asked Arctic Cat via their web site, we will have to see if they get back to me.

My dealer compared it to the A-Arm issue AC had a few years ago, you know the one where they used a different lock nut and the bolts were not long enough to get to the locking part. He said AC only fixed units that were not right. Talk about Apples and Oranges. Either the nuts/bolt combo was right or it wasn't. It's not like the bolts were going to get shorter with time. My tank could be OK today and not tomorrow...

So my dealer doesn't know what he's talking about then?

I completely get the parts not being available and I don't mind waiting, it's part of life. I don't really care that my dealer doesn't seem to know what he's talking about.

Please note, In my defense, I have been away from work now for over a month and a half with back problems, so I evidently missed the bulletin link, and thus misinterpreted earlier message between Kopeck and myself...

Cat really needs to step up to the plate and demand higher quality than these POS fuel tanks.. This crap has gone on for too long IMO..

Thanks for straightening that out Trev...

No need to apologies C-Note, you answered base on what you knew.

I hope to get something back from AC in writing or else I'm worried that talking to my dealer is going to be an up hill battle.

I went back and looked at pm... The bulletin link was there, but vision WASNT sharp enough to pick it up, as I'd just awoken from a nap.. :/

Sucks sitting around all day lately, makes one very tired due to being bored out of their mind.......
