I have a chance to buy a MINT 2006 660 turbo sled. Its the S/T model. I think that means it has the better shocks on it. Not sure what else the S/T has. It has only 2,000 miles on it. Very nice looking sled and well kept, used very little. Any way I dont know anything about these. Are the any good? Reliable? Problems? How much hp do these things make? What is the top speed you can expect from one? What kind of gas mileage and range can you expect?
Thought I'd do my research first. ( once bought a 2007 Mach Z w/o researching that - BIG mistake)
Thanks everyone.

I know two people who have them and like them. I think it s an outdated suspension with what s out on the newer sleds but that would just be preference on how and where you ride. I think 110 HP. Probably at least 15 MPG s ( again that depends on how hard you ride.)

The S/T gives you a sports suspension package. Pretty much ACT shocks in the back and FOX shocks up front. They also have a slightly different A arm setup (ZR style) to accommodate the FOX shocks (the non S/Ts use ZL A arms and Ryde FX shocks).

You also get hooks handle bars and a bit of more rise on the handle bars.

Great machines, I see you have a ZR, you will feel at home on a T660. The big differences are smooth riding (you just don't get tired on these machines), the down side is they're a bit heavy.

The turbo feels like a 600 2-Stroke horse power wise, the torque is really different though.

2k wouldn't scare me, do be aware of the driver bearing under the spedo sending unit, they do need attention after awhile.

If you're not going to but it; I'd be interested. For what it's worth, they sound like a decent machine with a good chasis. I'm considering either a Yamaha 1000 or the 660ST. Power vs Better Handling. Please PM me if you don't buy it. Tks!

had an 01 ZRT 600 LE and now a 04 T660 trail and love it as above heat gauge is a must. I get 18 MPG on avg. 90 miles per hr give or take, don't miss buying APV oil. 7000 miles no probs.,

If the price is right buy it you won't be dissapointed. I have the exact same sled and absolutely love it. Do the drive shaft bearings by 3500 miles as well as a valve inspection at 3500 just to be safe. Other than that you can expect 18-20mpg all day long and a very smooth and quiet ride. I ride often with a ZL800 and a RX1 and I smoke them both to about 75mph and I'm much bigger than them. The fastest I've ever had the sled is 104mph on a hard packed road. In fluffy snow they will do 95. Email at brett@longdrivers.ca if you have any other questions. I have about 6k miles on mine now. As an example of range last weekend I did a 212km trip that was trails with some lake riding and I used 29 litres of gas.

I bought a t660 turbo 2004 this winter. I just have 800km done this winter with this sled, and I don't want another sled. It's the perfect sled for me, my average mile/gallon (canadian gallon) is 18, the best I did is about 21 mpg and the trail wasn't realy good. The top speed for mine is 145km/h but I think in 2006 arctic cat put a larger driven so maybie they run a litle bit faster?
-Realy quiet
-Comfotable
- fuel economy
-110hp
-good handling
-wwwooowww

For the power, I test it with my brother, he have my old zl 500 1999 (96hp) and where equal until 85km/h after I'm better but we tried until 110km/h and the zl go to 160km, so the zl should come back later!

But I realy love my t660!

We had an 05 ST it was good and bad to us great ride and power but had issues with chain case bearings, sensor hitting on the fuel filter $330 dollar repair, the final straw was a broken valve. I would recommend anyone owning the short track 660 trubo to replace the valves on the center cylinder at 4000 miles. Most of these valve failures are happening at the 5000 mile range. Good luck with this sled if you buy it.

Also a valve inspection that just looks at clearence will not find the heat generated issue on the valve stem. It would take a complete disasemble to find this problem.

I have the 06 turbo touring model and absolutely love it . 0 problems aproaching 2000 mi. at the end of my 2nd season this year i'll be into it for 2 oil changes and 1 gear oil change .( $100 total) . the touring has a slightly larger tank , but it also has the longer track and is 100# heavier . add the wife on the back and a full touring bag and that engine is pushing and extra 275# around. still on our last trip we went 145 mi (235km) and still had a 1/4 tank of gas when i filled up .and we did 5 wot 5-10mi lake runs .83-87 mi/hr (135-140Km/hr) gps consistantly .
I would recommend this sled to anyone .
